With more than two decades of hands-on experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, Garrie founded SciSafe with a vision to create a trusted partner for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, one that truly understood the responsibility behind every sample, therapy, and patient outcome.
Starting with a single facility in New Jersey and one freezer, he built the company from the ground up through entrepreneurial grit, operational expertise, and an unwavering commitment to supporting life science innovation. Under his leadership, SciSafe has expanded internationally across New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Amsterdam, Netherlands, evolving far beyond traditional biorepository services into a full-service, end-to-end partner supporting discovery, development, pre-clinical research, clinical trials, and commercialization of biological materials and pharmaceutical products.
Known for his hands-on leadership style, deep industry knowledge, and genuine passion for advancing patient care, Garrie has established himself as both a respected industry expert and visionary building a globally trusted organization that supports some of the world’s leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
Nahreen Smyth
Chief Operating Officer
Nahreen leads all of SciSafe’s operations through the lens of her extensive expertise in quality, regulatory affairs, and operational excellence. She has been a driving force behind SciSafe’s transformation into an internationally trusted end-to-end life sciences partner.
Over the past five years, she has shaped the company’s growth through a relentless focus on compliance, infrastructure expansion, systems, and culture necessary to support some of the world’s leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations. Known for her ability to translate complex global regulatory expectations into scalable operational strategies, Nahreen has earned the confidence of customers by consistently demonstrating integrity, industry expertise, and an uncompromising commitment to doing things the right way.
Her leadership has been critical in expanding SciSafe’s capabilities while maintaining the precision, control, and reliability required to support the company’s rapid growth and transformation, while also delivering tailored client solutions for critical therapies and patient-driven programs around the world.
Kevin Higgins
Vice President of Finance
Kevin has a wealth of knowledge and experience, holding a Master of Business Administration in Finance and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Loyola University Maryland.
He brings over 20 years of know-how, including more than thirteen years of accounting and finance roles in the medical equipment industry before joining SciSafe in 2025. Utilizing his insights on financial planning and analysis along with risk management, Kevin oversees the day-to-day financial management so SciSafe can proceed to function without disruptions.
Tim Cloutier
Vice President of Sales
and Business Development
Beginning his career as a lab scientist then later acquiring his Master of Business Administration from D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University, Tim has dedicated the past 24+ years to developing connections and skills as well as managing client relationships in the biopharmaceutical industry. In those years, Tim specialized in temperature-controlled and cold storage in order to assist life science partners with trusted solutions that safeguard irreplaceable materials.
